Pricing and Booking
Call (07) 3522 5633How is the price for clearing a drain worked out?
The plumber finds the cause first, then quotes a fixed upfront price for the whole job before any work starts. Because the figure is agreed before work begins, there is no hourly rate guesswork and no surprise when the invoice arrives.
Do you charge by the hour?
No. Work is priced per job, not by the clock, so a choke that takes an hour longer than expected does not change what you pay. You agree the figure before the tools come out, and that is the amount on the invoice.
What should I have ready when I call?
Say which fixtures are slow or overflowing, how long it has been happening and whether the whole house is affected or just one drain. If you know your pipe material or the property's age, that helps too, but none of it is essential.
Can I pay by card?
Yes. You can pay by card or EFTPOS on the day the work is done, so there is nothing to arrange in advance and no invoice to chase later. The payment happens once the drain has been tested and you have seen it running freely.
Drains and the Local Ground
Call (07) 3522 5633Where does my responsibility for a drain end?
Pipes inside your boundary are yours to maintain. From the connection out to the Urban Utilities main, the line belongs to the utility. A camera inspection marks that boundary clearly, so you know exactly which section is yours to fix and which is not.
What should never go down a toilet or sink?
Wipes, paper towel, cooking fat and coffee grounds are the usual culprits. Wipes do not break down and fat sets hard against the pipe wall, so both build up until the line chokes. Scrape plates into the bin and put fat in a container instead.
Why do the low streets near the creeks flood their drains first?
Water leaves the high ground around Eildon Hill quickly and collects on the low flats, where stormwater outlets sit below the level Enoggera Creek reaches when it runs full. When the creek backs up, those outlets cannot clear and water sits in yard gullies.
Do newer buildings have different drain problems?
Usually milder ones. Buildings put up since the 2000s run PVC pipe, which resists roots and shifting ground better than the earthenware under the pre-war houses. Their problems tend to be grease, lint and hair in fixture drains rather than structural faults in the line.
I rent my unit. Who books the plumber?
Either you or your property manager can call, and the fixed upfront price makes the approval easy because the figure is in writing before work starts. If the fault turns out to be in the shared line or beyond the boundary, the footage helps sort out who pays.
When is the best time to book before storm season?
Late spring, before the November to March storms arrive. Windsor averages about 1010mm of rain a year, and most of it falls in that window, so a gully or strip drain carrying silt from the hill streets is far better cleared before the first downpour.
